Meet John & Amanda Sears

Amanda and John have been together for around 15 years and married for 12 of those. They met at Battle of the Bands in Christchurch in August 2010 - Back when John was lead singer and guitarist in a metal band called Mirikachinist and Amanda was hanging out in the metal scene and studying at Design and Arts College.
They fell in love, Amanda moved back to Dunedin, NZ and after getting married in 2013 they moved up to Nelson, NZ to settle down, start a family and focus on living a life full of fun and adventure while continuing to pursue their creative passions.
In 2022 they welcomed the birth of their little girl Emma Sophia and in 2024 they took a leap of faith and sold their house, moved to Tasman, NZ and began a whole new life focusing on family, adventure and creation - even building a brand new music studio!

Musician
John Sears
John is a musician, songwriter, and guitarist with over 20 years of experience, known for his dynamic sound and powerful performances.
Starting out in Dunedin with his 'Liquid Metal' band Mirikachinist, he won the 2010 South Island Battle of the Bands, released an EP, and shared the stage with acts like 8 Foot Sativa, Tainted, and Brazilian metal band Eminence.
After moving to Nelson in 2013, John collaborated with various local musicians before stepping into a new era of creative expression. In 2024, he built a dedicated music studio and shifted his focus fully to a solo career—exploring fresh ways to create music, blend genres, and use his voice as an instrument in new and unexpected ways.
Now, he is weaving sound and emotion together in a way that is both deeply personal and universally resonant, crafting music that speaks to the soul.
