How to Show Your Home Love & Gratitude

Amanda Sears

Showing love and gratitude to your house and belongings through organizing and cleansing is a beautiful practice that deepens your connection with the space you call home.

Your home is your personal slice of paradise on Earth. Your little bit of heaven (or hell). How crazy is it that we can call it our home..? Showing gratitude and love for the things in our life doesn't take away from you, in fact it creates more of that beautiful loving energy and opens you up to receive even more and more of it.

It's so easy to overlook the simple things we take for granted in our daily lives like a house, plumbing, clean water, flushable toilets, warmth, food storage, etc. I have had many living experiences including being homeless a couple of times and living on people's couches, in motels, a van, a tent in a friend's backyard and even in a garage - and on the flipside I've also lived in flash apartments, owned my own home and currently live in a brand new house in a brand new neighbourhood!

I've had the blessing of exploring having nothing, having some and having lots and through these experiences I learned to have gratitude and to not take for granted the blessings I have - but you don't need to experience contrast like that to appreciate the things you have - you just need to tune into your awareness and create some time to practice the art of gratitude and love for all you have and all you will have - the practice of gratitude is what brings more of the beautiful things too you.

Here's how you can show your house some love and gratitude

  1. Honoring Your Space: When you tend to your home with care, you're honoring the sacred space it provides. This act of love acknowledges the shelter, comfort, and security it offers, creating a nurturing sanctuary.

  2. Mindful Appreciation: As you organize, take a moment to appreciate each item for its role in your life. Whether practical or sentimental, expressing gratitude for your belongings acknowledges their value and purpose.

  3. Intentional Care: Cleaning and organizing are acts of love that show you cherish your environment. Regularly caring for your space prevents neglect and reflects the respect you have for your living area.

  4. Energy Infusion: By cleansing with intention, you infuse your space with positive energy and vibrations of love. This enhances the atmosphere, making it more inviting and uplifting for yourself and others.

  5. Creating Harmony: A well-cared-for space supports harmony and balance, reflecting the love you have for yourself and those who share your home. It creates an environment where growth and joy can flourish.

  6. Symbolic Release: Letting go of items that no longer serve you with gratitude allows you to release the past and make room for new blessings. It’s a way to honor the journey and evolution of your life.

  7. Setting Intentions: As you organize, you can set intentions for the energy and experiences you wish to welcome into your space. This loving practice aligns your home with your heart's desires and goals.

  8. Connection to the Present: Gratitude for your surroundings anchors you in the present moment, fostering a deeper connection to your home. It reminds you to appreciate the here and now, cultivating mindfulness and peace.

  9. Celebrating Abundance: Acknowledging your belongings as part of your abundance cultivates a mindset of gratitude. It shifts focus from lack to the richness of life, attracting more blessings.

  10. Energy Exchange: When you love and care for your home and belongings, you participate in an exchange of energy that sustains and uplifts you. This reciprocal relationship enhances the flow of love and gratitude throughout your life.

By engaging in this practice, you foster a relationship with your space that is rooted in love, respect, and gratitude. It creates a home that not only serves you but also reflects the beauty of your spirit.

Everything responds to love the way a flower blooms in the sunshine... including your house and everything in it. Are you letting it unfurl its petals or hiding it in the shade of and overgrown garden?

A simple way to include more gratitude into your life as a daily practice is saying a 'prayer' at bedtime every night for all the things you are grateful for that day and remember to include often overlooked but very helpful things like toilets and electricity.
