In a world often fixated on appearances, the narrative around body weight, particularly fat, can be limited and misunderstood. Yet, the truth is far more profound: fat is not merely a physical characteristic but a multifaceted messenger from our bodies. This article delves into the holistic approach to understanding body weight, exploring how fat serves as a vital communicator, reflecting our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

By unraveling the deeper messages our bodies convey through fat, we gain insights into our health, habits, and life experiences, empowering us to embrace a more compassionate and integrative view of our body’s wisdom. Join us on a journey to uncover the layers of meaning behind fat, transforming the way we perceive our bodies and fostering a path towards balance and harmony.
Body weight is a normal response from the body biology for energetic fluctuations in your life - not diet and exercise - those are just human responses to emotional shifts.
Some notes before we begin:
You can't truly know something until you experience it personally... I can now add being quite fat (100kg+ on my small frame) to my personal experience.
I've been fat before but not like this... even when I was pregnant
It feels like I'm wearing a heavy fat balloon or a fat suit
I don't feel fat and I definitely don't feel as fat as I am and get surprised when I see photos of myself from the side or the back or catch a side glimpse of me in a reflection
Being fat doesn't bother me because I trust my body and I don't have the same ego hang ups about my looks as I used to
Getting fat was probably the last thing needed to strip away any ego attachments to my appearance (prior to being fat I was super thin with severe acne)
I've already addressed and healed the generational food trauma
Food is not to be feared but enjoyed
I love moving my body and I'm sad that I can't move it much at the moment
Fat is not a 'bad' word in my vocabulary
I've been down the path of diets and exercise; also the path of illness and weight loss - now I'm on the path of healing and fat. I'm actually the healthiest I've been in years mentally, emotionally and energetically but also the fattest I've ever been. Through this experience I have gained a lot of awareness (and fat) haha.
So while I've been sitting around tired and achy healing from my pregnancy and birth trauma while downloading and integrating more of myself; trusting the innate wisdom of my body to guide me back into harmony, I've been pondering the idea that there is more to fat then meets the eye - because I know from personal experience and intuition that there is. This article is my exploration of those ideas.
It's important to note that how I look does not change the depth of love I have for myself. I still love myself unconditionally BUT my big fat heavy body FEELS big and heavy. It's hard to play with my daughter, sleeping is often uncomfortable, finding clothes that truly express me is very limited at this size, I've had to squeeze into plane seats and I sweat a ridiculous amount; whilst I love myself unconditionally, trust the process and don't judge myself (much), I definitely feel limited and uncomfortable 80% of the time.
I've watched my daughter trust and listen to her body and been inspired by the innate wisdom we encourage within her - something most of us were stripped off as early as possible. She teaches me how to eat what feels good for my body without judgement and to trust my appetite with how much food I want and when. Children are some of the best teachers...
Let's relearn or learn for the very first time together what children innately know: how to have a holistic, harmonious and compassionate relationship with our body that is our natural way of being.
THE COMPLEX INTERPLAY BETWEEN BODY WEIGHT, BIOLOGY AND ENERGETIC FLUCTUATIONS
Biological Response: Body weight can be a natural response to various biological processes, such as metabolism, hormonal changes, and genetic predispositions. These factors can be influenced by the body's need to adapt to different life circumstances and energetic demands.
Energetic Fluctuations: Energetic fluctuations in life—such as stress, emotional experiences, and environmental changes—can impact biological processes, potentially affecting body weight. The body often responds to these shifts in ways that may manifest physically.
Diet and Exercise: While diet and exercise are significant factors in managing body weight, they are often responses to how we process emotional and energetic shifts. For example, stress might lead to emotional eating, and exercise can be a method of releasing pent-up energy or emotions.
Holistic Perspective: From a holistic standpoint, body weight is not solely determined by diet and exercise. It's an intricate reflection of one's physical, emotional, and spiritual state. Understanding this interconnectedness can lead to more compassionate and effective approaches to well-being.
As someone who has grown up with the idea that being fat is purely bad diet choices and laziness - and having personal experience knowing that it's not - it is important to view body weight through a multidimensional lens, recognizing that diet and exercise are just parts of a broader picture that includes emotional and energetic dynamics.
Let's start our quest for harmony within the mind, body, and soul! Integrating, shifting, and releasing excess body fat can be seen as a journey of alignment and balance.
KEY POINTS FROM A HOLISTIC PERSPECTIVE: Blending the Physical, Energetic and Spiritual
MIND
Mindful Awareness: Cultivate a deep awareness of your thoughts and emotions surrounding body image. Practice self-compassion and gratitude for your body, focusing on its strength and resilience.
Positive Affirmations: Use affirmations to reprogram beliefs around health and self-worth. Phrases like "I am healthy, vibrant, and deserving of well-being" can transform your mental landscape.
Visualization: Imagine yourself in your desired state of health and vitality. Envision the release of excess weight as a natural and joyful process.
BODY
Nourishment: Choose whole, nutrient-dense foods that support your body's natural processes. Consider incorporating more plant-based foods and reducing processed items - but ultimately listen to your body without judgement.
Movement: Find joyful ways to move your body regularly, whether it's dancing, walking, or practicing yoga. Exercise should feel like a celebration, not a chore. (Enjoy a fun 60 Second Workout from Crimson Circle below).
Hydration: Ensure you're drinking plenty of water to support metabolism and detoxification processes. Water is a conduit of energy and life force. If your water isn't appealing, try using a filter jug like a Brita to take out the chemicals and improve the taste).
SOUL (ENERGETIC)
Energy Healing: Explore modalities like Reiki, Qi Gong, or acupuncture to balance your energy field and release stagnant energies that may contribute to weight retention.
Chakra Alignment: Focus on the Solar Plexus chakra, which governs personal power and metabolism. Visualize it spinning brightly, releasing any blockages.
Emotional Release: Engage in practices like journaling or breathwork to process and release emotions that may be energetically linked to holding onto weight.
PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS
Consistent Routine: Establish a daily routine that incorporates elements of mind, body, and soul care. Consistency is key to creating sustainable change.
Community Support: Connect with others on a similar journey, whether through support groups or online communities. Shared intentions amplify energy and motivation.
Intuitive Listening: Tune into your body's signals, honoring its needs for rest, nourishment, and movement. Trust its wisdom to guide you toward balance.
Remember that this journey is not just about shedding physical weight but also about embracing a lighter, more vibrant existence on all levels. Be patient and kind with yourself, and celebrate each step forward with joy and gratitude. Your body, mind, and soul are worthy of love and care.
Once you've addressed the emotional and physical aspects of obesity, exploring the energetic dimensions can offer further insights and healing. The connection between body, mind, and spirit is intricate, and understanding how energy flows - or doesn't - can be transformative.
7 ENERGETIC PERSPECTIVES TO CONSIDER
Integration of Energy: Obesity may reflect challenges in integrating and processing life experiences, emotions, or energies. This can create energetic blockages or imbalances in the body's subtle systems. Practices such as meditation, chakra balancing, or energy healing can support smoother integration and energetic flow.
Expression of Energy: Holding onto excess weight can sometimes symbolize unexpressed creativity, passion, or personal power. Exploring and nurturing your creative outlets or finding ways to express these energies can be liberating and healing.
Sacral and Solar Plexus Chakras: The sacral chakra governs creativity and relationships, while the solar plexus chakra is linked to personal power and self-esteem. Imbalances here may contribute to energetic patterns influencing weight. Healing these chakras through visualization, affirmations, or yoga can support balance.
Self-Identity and Worth: On an energetic level, obesity might relate to aspects of self-identity and worth, such as shielding oneself from vulnerability or seeking protection. Engaging in inner work to embrace self-love and acceptance can shift these energetic patterns.
Boundary Setting: Energetically, excess weight can signify a need for stronger boundaries—both physically and emotionally. Reflecting on relationships and environments where boundaries could be reinforced may highlight areas for growth.
Ancestral and Karmic Patterns: Sometimes, weight issues have deeper roots in ancestral or karmic patterns. Exploring these areas through past life regression, ancestral healing, or spiritual practices can offer resolution and liberation.
Mind-Body Connection: Cultivating a harmonious mind-body connection through practices like mindfulness, breathwork, or tai chi can enhance awareness and energetic alignment, supporting holistic well-being.
Remember your journey is unique, and the path to balance involves honoring all aspects of your being. Trust your intuition to guide you, and approach this exploration with kindness and curiosity.
Being fat is not a comfortable thing... its hard on the body overall and its not always easy to find nice clothes, fit in a plane seat, move as much as you'd like or get a comfortable nights sleep... but it can be a gateway to more self-love, better boundaries, self-discovery and a worthy journey of coming back into a loving and harmonious state within yourself.
Embracing self-love and positivity at every stage of your journey is key to feeling good and creating a harmonious relationship with your body.
7 TIPS TO HELP YOU FEEL GOOD WHILE HONOURING YOUR BODY AS IT NATURALLY FINDS ITS BALANCE
Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding. Celebrate your body for all it does for you, and forgive yourself for any perceived shortcomings. Embrace your uniqueness and know that you are deserving of love right now.
Focus on How You Feel: Tune into how your body feels rather than how you think it looks. Pay attention to the sensations of health, strength, and vitality. Engage in activities that make you feel vibrant, whether it's a walk in nature, dancing, or gentle yoga.
Dress for Joy and Comfort: Wear clothes that make you feel happy and comfortable. Choose fabrics and styles that bring out your confidence and allow you to express your personality, while feeling good in your own skin.
Nourish Your Body and Soul: Prioritize nourishing foods that satisfy both your hunger and your soul. Enjoy meals mindfully, appreciating each bite, and allow yourself to eat what feels good without guilt.
Surround Yourself with Positivity: Cultivate a supportive environment by surrounding yourself with positive, uplifting people who appreciate you for who you are. Limit exposure to media or conversations that promote negative body image.
Celebrate Non-Scale Victories: Recognize and celebrate achievements that aren't related to weight, such as increased energy, improved mood, or enhanced self-confidence. These victories are valuable indicators of your well-being.
Engage in Self-Care Practices: Incorporate self-care rituals into your routine, such as meditation, journaling, or soaking in a warm bath. These practices help you connect with your inner self, boosting your overall sense of peace and contentment.
Fat doesn't have to be forever and it doesn't need to be an effort or a struggle to come into harmony within your body - in fact effort or struggle will have the opposite effect, and even if it has a short-term effect, if you haven't dealt with the root cause your body will continue to go out of balance.
Nature is always seeking harmony and resolution - this includes your body... all you need to do is listen to it.
Remember, your body is your home, and every step you take towards self-love and acceptance is a beautiful way to honor that sacred space. As you cultivate positivity and compassion, focusing on happiness and joy, your body will naturally align with its harmonious state with more ease and grace, and you'll radiate well-being from the inside out.
